Summer Vaccations ...

As the weather shifts from a pleasant one to a warmer one, its time to say goodbye and time to pack-up to head towards home for the summer vacation. For the 1st two weeks its fun … refreshing … away from a place we feel we are bonded laborers. From the 3rd week itself, you start feeling “when will these holidays get over?” There is nothing to do, nothing to read, nothing to worry about. What exists … is a perfectly idle mind. Yeah, An idle mind is a Devil’s workshop. Devil begins its spell on you and slowly you feel “why the hell, my friends not contacting me? Alrite, I am not dying for them… if they call, I will call back. If they sms, I will sms back. And they keep waiting for some fool to call them (occasionally, such fools do call up, but don’t get a call in return). Soon enuf they forget their friends, and recall them only in the next session.

But at NISER, I have observed a strange phenomenon. Some people completely change! The 1st summer vacation: a girl transformed from being the one who interacted indiscriminately with all boys and was undisputed favourite of all boys….. on her return failed to notice guys and is still living in her own world aloof of others!! Thank God! I had given her a (parting) gift just before the vacations! 2nd summer vacation: I got a new friend, with whom I had rarely interacted, but has become a close friend ever since. 3rd summer vacation: Two friends changed!! They won’t respond to sms, won’t pick up phone … as if they have left their gadget behind. I have a lot of patience, everyday I send a sms or call, all in vain of course. Loneliness at Bangalore upsets me a lot. But I m not desperate…. And there is a limit to my patience… so I decided that I should also change. I have changed … but only for them … for others I still remain that caring Rakesh. Hope I don’t find still others who have changed this semester.

  1. Ever considered that a lot of things may be going in their lives too....things that are not-so-pleasant, things that they might not wanna share!! Things that make people go for a phase of self-realization again?? Remember that friends are never forgotten!! And jumping to conclusion quickly is not good either!!
